TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik of South Windsor, CT, USA was incorporated in 2001 out of the desire to remake restoration parts to keep these iconic recording instruments working. This passion grew into the ambitious goal of recreating the ELA M 251 in all of its original glory, both sonically and structurally. Fast forward to 2002. TELEFUNKEN showcased the newly revived ELA M 251 reissue which shocked the audio industry with its remarkable accuracy to the original, both inside and out. The microphone won the 2003 TEC Award for Studio Microphone Technology.
Now with the ball rolling, TELEFUNKEN used the same reverse engineering process to successfully recreate and release the U47 and C12, both to the same exacting standards of their original counterparts. This cross-section of classic microphones provides a living collection of the microphones used in countless sessions that helped define the benchmark sounds of high-fidelity recording.
Since 2002 TELEFUNKEN have gone on to create and release many new designs suited to todays engineer and recording technologies. These include the FET M60’s, The ALCHEMY Series, The DYNAMIC range and the FET DI range. All of which are handmade in Connecticut, USA.
